The Australian Labor party has been building homes in the Sunshine State for the last 10 years, but there is a new house in Brisbane that’s about to break ground.
The party announced the news late last week in a statement that said construction will begin in March and will begin on a $1.3 billion project in Brisbane.
Labor says the project will bring more than 200,000 jobs and $1 billion in investment to the state and its surrounding area.
It’s a large project, but it will be one that will take many years to complete, and is expected to cost about $1bn.
The Labor government is building more than 500,000 homes and investing more than $8 billion in housing over the last decade.
Labor has said that in 10 years the state’s population will be about 3.5 million people, and that this new project will be the first in Australia to be built entirely in the state.
Brisbane has been the site of major political battles between the Labor government and the federal Labor government in recent years.
The federal Labor Party was able to use the Federal Court to try to block Labor’s plan to build more than 600,000 houses in Brisbane over a 10-year period.
