President Donald Trump on Sunday accused Russia of having no proof that President Vladimir Putin asked Russian President Vladimir Trump to kill the hostages held by the Islamic State group.
Trump also blamed the Obama administration for allowing a Russian government-backed militant group to take over a U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya.
“The Obama administration did not have the guts to call the shots,” Trump said on CNN’s State of the Union.
“We had to call them and we had to be successful.
We had to succeed and that was very, very tough.
We were successful.”
The State Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Trump was responding to a question about whether he was aware of the situation, when he said, “It’s a different thing than what you’ve heard.”
